Dead Podcast for Janurary

Casual Warcrafting- Sometime in December seem Casual Warcrafting went quite, and the site was gone. One of the last episodes talked about hosts getting in a car accident so I hope they are well.

LNN Podcast a small little podcast started in the wake of Blizzcon 2010, stop me if you have heard this one before. But they only put out three episodes over six months. That is not to say it was bad only that when you don't undated regularly your not likely keep your podcast alive.

Matticast, Podcast put out Matticus best know for his writing on WoW Insider on healing. This is a podcast that honestly has surprised me that has withered on the vine as much as it has. I mean if your going to put together podcast Matticus took his time and did it right, yet this podcast just never seemed to have the legs you would expect. There was word a while back that Matticast might come back at some point but that post was back in August and as the months pass that seems less and less likely.

Molsan Method Podcast, was a short form podcast that has slowly gone inactive. Molsan has given up wow and is now into the Star Wars. His blog is still very active.

WoW: While Servers Are Down, seems to be on a prolonged hiatus. There is a banner on there site saying at some point they will be back as Lagwar but nothing has come of that yet but if something comes up I'll be happy to tell you guys about it.

The greatest Lore rant in the world

I would like to share something with you all, I post on the Scrolls of Lore forums from time to time. I'm not a major member, I mostly lurk and add my two copper when I have something to say or ask. However I was going through thread called "Neutralization of racial themes has been equal" when I came across these two posts by ARM3481. Where he puts out some of the most rational well spoken arguments I have seen about Warcraft Lore in regard to factions balance in a long time. Read for yourself and see if you agree or not. This might not be the greatest lore rant but at the very least its a tribute to it.

Part 1

Oh, it's even worse than cheap "QQ". It's math. I don't know about anyone else, but few things grate on my nerves more than those who obsess over math and statistics when it isn't called for, which is ultimately what such complaints are, regardless of which faction they're coming from: attempts to make plot turns and twisted into a hollow statistical average of give-and-take in order to make a point.

Horde gets three of something, Alliance gets two, and Alliance fans freak out. Alliance gets four of something, Horde gets three, and Horde fans freak out. Neutrals get anything, and both sides throw a fit.

To make matters worse many such individuals claim such mathematical unfairness constitutes bad storytelling. That's not bad storytelling. It's the outcry of arbitrary tallies fueled by petty irritation that the entirety of a given story wasn't resolved to a satisfying conclusion within the span of the current expansion.

The Horde's stomped around throughout Cataclysm, and in some people's estimation the fact that the Alliance didn't get their cup filled to match by the time Deathwing was floating face-down in the Maelstrom translates to some kind of permanent unfairness.

If such faction "imbalance" makes for bad storytelling, then I guess Lord of the Rings was horribly bad storytelling, because there were an absolute crap-ton of orcs and trolls for every human, elf, hobbit, dwarf or ent and the only circumstances in which Middle Earth could succeed were hinged upon the miniscule odds of Frodo's success at Mt. Doom. They even took one of the other side's wizards! Faction imbalance! Even as the orcs routed at Pelennor, the defenders never truly had the upper hand. That victory left mankind's armies crippled and doomed in the event of a sustained conflict. Sauron retained the military means to crush all resistance through attrition and sheer numbers under any circumstance that didn't involve the One Ring being slipped past him and destroyed. Gee, guess that was a terrible story, given how heavily the odds were stacked in favor of one side over the other...

Just because a person's chosen favorite faction isn't getting a win for every time the other side wins, does not equate to a bad story. Especially in something like WarCraft, it simply amounts to the state of affairs at a particular point in an ongoing story that could change in any of a thousand different ways at any point in the future.

One needn't bother trying to suggest that to the most rabid of either faction-oriented fanbases, though. They've decided that every expansion - or even every content patch - is supposed to be a mirror of ups and downs between both player factions. As far as they're concerned, they paid for this expansion, and they're being mistreated in some fashion by that purchase not concluding the entire tale to their satisfaction, despite knowing that the faction conflict in particular was meant to outlive the Lich King's fall, the tantrums of Deathwing and his pals, and likely even our upcoming foray into Pandaria.

Without even realizing it, they clamor for a story that boils down to the thematic equivalent of the Horde killing a boar for every wolf the Alliance kills and vice-versa. Or even worse, both factions killing an identical number of boarwolves with flavor text that makes it "for the Horde" and "for the Alliance". It's like they stepped out of Wintergrasp from the days of factions trading victories on purpose for maximum honor points and became incensed that the narrative doesn't play by those rules.

WoW is an ongoing story, and to get our noses out of joint about the current state of "unfairness" between two groups of protagonists is to apply some imaginary end point to a tale that doesn't actually have one.

They've already said this is all building up to something, and honestly the only response I tend to hear consistently from the naysayers is the defeatist assertion that because they've been wronged thus far, then clearly nothing will change. "They're just saying that. They favor Horde, so it's all just hot air and the Alliance won't ever bounce back." Really? They love the Horde so much that they handed it a complete and utter defeat at the climax of its greatest string of victories during the Second War? They loved it so much that they saddled it with a cadre of half-rotten allies whose sinister and irresponsible scheming nearly cost it the war in Northrend and all but cast a player race as villains at worst, and highly informed abettors of said villainy at best? They still love it so much they installed a Warchief who elicits outright hostility from half the Horde's racial leaders and contempt bordering on disgusted indifference from the rest?

And honestly, the story is far from over. Cataclysm isn't some twenty-year span of the Horde running roughshod over the Alliance that will culminate in them finishing the job during MoP. Tons of this stuff is very likely intended to be happening at the same time around Azeroth, and the nature of prolonged warfare is that often one side starts off more aggressively and racks up the wins more quickly while the other side adjusts and gets ready to strike back. It makes sense for the Horde to have the initiative at first because they've always existed as a collection of states expanding across largely hostile and untamed lands, as opposed to the Alliance, which generally deals with attacks upon lands that they've already occupied and controlled for a long time. It takes time to switch from a footing of protecting what one has to striking out against enemies abroad, and while the Horde's very nature has kept it on the latter footing since day one, the Alliance's "default" is to commit its forces to the defense of its current territories, as it's not particularly expansionist by nature, so it doesn't perpetually maintain a state of trying to conquer new lands. The resource-hungry Horde's always had its eyes on the lush territories adjacent to its own, while Stormwind's not really eying Stranglethorn or the Blasted Lands. The Forsaken have by necessity been trying to oust and destroy the Scarlet Crusade and Worgen for years, while Darnassus hasn't spent the past ten thousand years desperately trying to claim the Barrens or Tanaris. Even where Stormwind is fighting, like Dustwallow, they don't exactly want the place. It's just tactically necessary; otherwise Stormwind's got its delineated borders and lands, and doesn't seem particularly interested in changing them. It's all just a matter of long-established nations with ready access to long-established resources and infrastructures clashing with younger, expanding nations that lack abundance and see it in lands abutting their own.

It's only natural that the latter are going to keep a larger standing army ready to invade than the latter because they see invasion as a potential necessity in and of itself rather than solely an act of retaliation to attack. The Alliance's nation-states have, for the most part, been around long enough that they've got most of what they need land-wise and only rally armies for long-distance excursions when they feel threatened by something abroad. As a result, it stands to reason that they don't cavalierly begin amassing for gargantuan warfare in distant lands, especially when something like the recent attacks of Deathwing have them on a defensive footing and dealing with at-home calamities.

Really it's just a different mindset thing. While every orc is raised to look forward to the chance for glory and honor in battle, a citizen of the Alliance wouldn't necessarily want to go fight the Horde while their home is still on fire from Deathwing's latest fly-by.

In the wake of Deathwing's fall, that can change. The massive third-party threats to the world are quelled (for now), and while the leaders of the Alliance have known for some time what's going on with the Horde's aggressive expansion, only now can the average person finally finish rebuilding their demolished homes and focus on dealing with the shenanigans Garrosh's Horde has been up to during the Cataclysm while they were busy putting out the fires in their houses and seeing to their families. Nobody wants to march off to war if it means leaving their spouses and children waiting behind in the charred husk of what used to be their home, but with that situation rectified, the peoples of the Alliance as a whole can zero in on the next pack of bastards that are out to ruin their day, safe in the knowledge that the Aspect of Death and his army of crazed nihilists aren't still out there trying to destroy everything they know and love.

Part 2

Well, even during WCIII, Maiev hardly proved to be an example of predominant night elf temperament, as most of them didn't have a grossly overdeveloped sense of personal vengeance.

Plus I frankly think people grab onto that quote a bit more literally than it was intended to be taken. After all, the Qiraji and Silithid survived, now didn't they (and not in secret either; the night elves knew they'd locked a powerful and enduring enemy away behind the Scarab Wall)? The trolls survived the rise of the kaldorei, back when the night elves were actually aggressive expansionists kicking the crap out of their neighbors. The satyr remained a consistent local danger before and after the War of the Satyr. Hell, they'd just fought against the Horde and Alliance intruders mere months prior, and those "races" were still around.

The sad reality of the other examples is probably a result of development time curtailing their ability to do what they'd have liked to.

Really, I think it's easy to forget that at a fair amount of the frustration expressed here about such things is likely shared by the developers. I'm sure they'd have loved to have turned every single zone in Azeroth upside-down and packed them full of every awesome new story they could think of.

Yet the cold reality is that Mr. Eric Browning's Blizzcon Art Panel joke about getting to only keep three puppies applies well beyond just his department of in-game prop designing.

What it adds up to is that in addition to story-driven change, certain zones needed heavy mechanical change than others. Naturally, as they were getting a heavier revamp overall, such zones were likely afforded greater change overall - including story-based change - due to the fact that they were already undergoing more extensive renovations to begin with. Zones like Westfall and Duskwood probably already fit more cohesively into the leveling curve, so they were subjected to less stripping-down of their basic designs, and therefore offered less room for drastic story mechanics to squeeze in.

The Alliance isn't alone in that, even if it might theoretically possess more zones to which it happened to apply. There are also Horde areas and hubs where it feels like the player is shuffled through at a breakneck pace (even by current leveling standards) likely for the sake of not leaving it unused while also not completely outpacing the overall leveling curve they were going for. Even in Stonetalon, certain parts of the Horde questing experience literally involve swinging into an entire settlement, doing one quest, then accepting a follow-up that is literally a narrated "go to the next town".

The fact is, gameplay will take precedent when the chips are down and deadlines are approaching. It's both sad and heartening, because while it means sacrificing story at times to get the job done, it also means the job will get done. Just try setting a room full of creative people loose without a deadline, whether self-imposed, enforced by some form of management , or imposed by the filter of other creative teams' constraints. They'll never, ever, ever finish the job, because new ideas will never stop coming and they'll never feel compelled to cut things off and say "this won't work mechanically, it's time to cut and print what we can and polish what's there". They'll say "this won't work mechanically, let's overhaul the mechanics from scratch to make it work", and it will never be done.

(I am guilty of this myself, incidentally...*cough*)

Personally, I think the "imbalance" is basically due to the Alliance having better zones to start with in Vanilla WoW. And not "better" in the subjective or story-driven sense. Simply mechanically, the Alliance had a smoother rate of progression from zone-to-zone (no prancing to-and-fro in the Barrens, for instance), which meant they required less bare-bones ratcheting of the gears and bolts that carried the leveling player between them, while the Horde literally had to break a zone in half to smooth things out. As a result, the Alliance-centric zones called for less attention from the software Programmers and Developers, who are essentially the agents by which the Creative Developers actually inject their conceptualized stories into the game itself. Such zones needed less done overall, so they garnered less attention than those which required heavy-duty mechanical revamping to smooth things out the way they intended to.

And really, even the Horde stalls out in places, suggesting the cruel mistress that is the deadline hacked off their efforts short of completing the entirety of their revamping. Arathi is only marginally better for the Horde than the Alliance, which suggests to me that they were at some point "headed in" to the zone from the more heavily altered Hillsbrad when plans for it had to be stopped short and capped off. While regardless of one's opinions on the actual narrative victories therein, the Barrens, Stonetalon, Ashenvale and the Plaguelands got serious overhauls for both factions because those zones were significantly juggled around the leveling curve (Plaguelands) and altered to serve as truly viable leveling progression zones (Barrens, Stonetalon and Ashenvale). Or even Silithus, which found itself in the unenviable position of being a level 60 zone in an age of WoW where people tend to skip to Outland at 58. The Blasted Lands had proximity to Outland going for them, but Silithus was largely untouched for both factions, likely because it just plain didn't fit into the modern leveling curve and rate of progression in WoW.

It's unfortunate, and we may bitch about it (I've said some things I regretted in retrospect, at least by way of the tone in which I posted them), but it's highly likely that a great many of our own frustrations about lacking of story content are shared by the people who actually come up with the stories and who, in a perfect world, would release every expansion jam-packed with a fresh new Azeroth and a billion stories to tell.

But the world isn't perfect, so they get everything they can into the game, and do their best to weave it all together, even if producing fewer results to satisfy the short-term remands means taking extra time to get it all out in the long-term and the whole thing doesn't necessarily fit into the confines of this-or-that particular patch, expansion or questline. They're working through a medium that metaphorically yanks entire chapters, characters, themes and plotlines out of their proposed stories even after the normal process of editing and requires that they staple together what remains into something serviceable, and considering the limitations they work with, I've personally been pretty impressed by the rate of improvement we've seen in the game's storytelling from the Sunwell patch onward. It's not perfect by any stretch, but under the circumstances it's a great deal more cohesive than one would normally expect.

Mists of Panandara - Scenario: Alcaz Island?

I was burning down some old podcasts from last summer and one of them mentioned Scenario: Alcaz Island. Now at that point we knew nothing about Pandaren or Pokemon battles. But we have the gift of hindsight and thus we can see this might be one of the Scenarios promised at the 2011 Blizzcon as part of Mists of Panandara. If there was going to be a Scenario here there is a history of Alcaz Island being used for events. Back in the bad old days following patch 1.9 the Scepter of the Shifting Sands questline required people to come to this island and retrieve part of the scepter. Before that Varian Wrynn was first put into the game on Alcaz Island. No doubt at that point it was meant to end the missing diplomat storyline that Blizzard never really finished in game but did finish in the Warcraft Comics.

The other possibility is that this might play some role in the Theramore destruction story promised to ignite the war between the Alliance and Horde. I don't have the answers we can only really look at what the island is being use for now which is nothing and see if we can figure out what it might be used for in the future. With all things I'm sure time will tell.

"It looks like the zone will be instanced at some point, and available as a "Scenario". I couldn't find anything else on "scenario" in the game files but it's very unusual to have an additional information such as this one in the name of the Map. The only exception is "Transport:" maps and we could potentially be looking at a new type of instance here.

The "Expansion" field of the Map.dbc is set to "3" and seems to point to Cataclysm content but there's also the slight possibility that it's early data from the next expansion that got mislabeled."

Lor'themar Theron:In the Shadow of the Sun

The short story for Lor'themar Theron: In the Shadow of the Sun by by Sarah Pine has officially been put out. Now this story won the writing contest a few years ago and is no doubt the reason why Sarah Pine has continued write other great short stories in the Warcraft Universe and it sounds like we are going to get at least one more from Miss Pine call Quest for Pandaria.

No idea on when I'll do a podcast review on this one honestly was expecting the Velen story first. But if anyone has any interest in talking about this let me know and we should be able to work something out.

Fangs of the Father, Part 2

So, I decided to spend some time and get as deep into the Fangs of the Father lore as I could without being a rogue. To be honest it still a bit disappointing. I know this is supposed to be showing off all the way rogues are cool but honestly other than one pick pocket there really isn't anything here that almost any other class could do if given a cloaking mechanic. That doesn't mean its a horrible story by Warcraft standards its solid B however when the only point of this is so Blizzard can bring Black Dragons back again the future villain makes me wonder was all this set up really worth it for that?

Always here some videos by a few different people to be honest the voice acting is not in this as much as you would expect and the fact they took out Fermion and the Dalaran infiltration mission makes me really doubt how well thought out this whole thing really was. /shurg

Fangs of the Father lore wanted

The death of the Lich King is one of the most interesting events in Warcraft lore and while I'm not a fan of the "there must always be Lich King" shit its hard to argue how effective the story event started as part of Shadowmourne/Sealed Chest are at moving the characters and putting an end to many of the stories of Wrath. I was reminded of this reviewing Edge of Night last week. You can clearly see the items and dialog move the story forward. In the Case of Sylvanas it sets up the events of Edge of Night and the new Undead areas.

While we don't know all the details of the Fangs of the Father legendary I've seen no signs we are going get this kinda of story moving quest at the end of the chain. In fact I honestly think the Dark Prince is little more than set up right now for game much further down the line. See Garrosh Hellscream in Burning Crusade. I would just hope that in the future blizzard remember what they have done right in the pasted and not ignore it.

Thursday Video Game Music for 1/19/2012

I like many people around the age of 30 no doubt owned one of the original grey gameboys. In fact I still have mine and it still works after almost 20 years which is more than I can say for my Nintendo and Super Nintendo. But one of the games I play the heck out of as a kid was Wario Land: Super Mario Land 3. While it might not be widely known now but this was the first game Wario got to be the Hero. With his first game being Super Mario Land 2.

So enjoy the music from the ending credits and a extra video here showing some of hte boss fights and the "Best Ending"

Thursday Video Game Music for 1/12/2012

One of the reasons I stopped doing this weeks selection was because I don't like to post songs I don't personally enjoy. And right now I really like the sound of the Mass Effect music. But I've covered that before and Mass Effect 3 is still two months off. So I'm running into the problem that nothing sounds good to me. I know songs are good but they just aren't moving me in any meaningful way.

This is often my problem with World of Warcraft music I don't think its bad but there is nothing exceptional about most of either. I few pieces stick out and Warcraft Podcasters will use them to death as background music. See Howling Fjord music. I know I'm not the only one that gets into a certain feel for music and then everything falls away until you burn yourself out on this new music.

So rather than giving you a song from a video game rather I'm giving you a song that should be in EVERY VIDEO GAME.

Dead Podcasts for December

So we come to the first dead podcast of 2012 post and you might look at this list and say wow, a lot of shows are ending, but its important to remember most of these podcast ended in June of 2011.

Blue Plz, one of the best known Warcraft podcast decided to cut back updating after 4.2 raid nerfs. But no more updates ever came so after 6 months I'm calling this one dead for now.

CataCast Podcast, put out 5 episodes over the course of 6 months with 4 being in the first month and one last death through in June of 2011. Its a good name but sadly I think its missed most of its ideal window.

Circle of Healing, was a great healing podcast, then in shadow of 4.2 they just stopped updating. I think they planned to come back but seems it just never happened.

End game, another good idea that didn't get far 3 episodes then it was over. To bad but it does seem to be the way of things.

I Hearth Geeks, A weekly podcast that never really got the weekly thing down. Podfade in june.

Society of Lore, another short lived Lore podcast. Seems Warcraft lore podcasts, last a month, a year, or never die. Sadly this seems to be the first.

The Other Guys Podcast, a good podcast that ran about six months and decided to end there show. I do like it when a show decided to know when to walk away.

The Shade's Podcast, this podcast put out two episodes in 3 days then stopped. I don't know why

WoW Misfits, this podcast only put out one show, but they had some great art.

Welcome to the first new podcast of 2012. We are continuing our letters from the Art of Cataclysm series. The show is filled with goblins, plans, and generally sleepiness. I'll be honest its a bit rough but its important not to let deadlines slip to much.

In some other news there is a new Lore Podcast out for people should check out Lore Whores. Its only on youtube right now but if they get an website I'll make sure to add a link to it.

Thursday Video Game Music for Janurary 5, 2012

Its back, after my talk with Georgewow a while back he reminded me that sometimes you don't always post things for yourself but some times you post them for others as well. I'm going to keep doing musical pauses from time to time but I'm not going to limited them to Thursdays because that is when we do Video game music.

So after two month off and 2011 defeated in a pile of ashes seemed like a good time to play the Final Fantasy Fanfare. Funny thing, I don't really like most of the longer cuts of this song. But I think I found a video that does what I want. Honestly I loved when Big wigs the boss mod would like this music when a boss died just seemed right.

If anyone has suggestions for a Thursday video game music leave them I them in the comments or I'll just keep reliving my childhood and college years...

My wife is awesome for many reasons but one of the reasons I would like to talk about here is she finds cool stuff like this for our daughter room. This crimson whelp sits on here dresser and protects my little pirate from harm.

Whats funny is my mother hates it, and its one of the reasons that she thought we were having a boy rather than a girl, but I think that is a generational thinking. To me, my wife and many of our friends a red dragon isn't a boy a girl item but just something cool that I hope inspires her.

The Mana Cooler

Had the great pleasure to be on The Mana Cooler with Georgewow last week. We discussed everything from lore to podcasting. It was great fun and when I do my Shattering novel review you can bet George is going to be on that show.

Anyways check out the show I was on, and then keep listening to the Mana Cooler George does a great show. You can really tell he puts his heart into everyone, sure the audio isn't great all the time but I think if you give The Mana Cooler a chance you will like it as much as I do.

A musical pause for December 15, 2011

You ever hear about a show years before you really watched no doubt have every part of the story spoiled yet when you came the show it still spoke to you and you enjoyed it. That was Dead like me. From friends told me about Art Bell loved the show. In fact my love of this song as well as my wife's comes from those long drives we used to take at the wee hours of morning listening to Coast to Coast AM during the early part of our relationship. Bell says his late wife loved this song and he played it for her often while she was alive. I still remember hearing of her death, and the night Art came back to talk about it. There are few things sadder I have ever heard. This song has so many strings for me I always listen to it with a hint of sadness.

Dregcast/Pugcast Saved!

One of my goals when I started working on Wowpedia podcast page was to draw attention to podcasts that people might not otherwise find. Another part of that is to help save podcasts which have gone inactive. I'm sure I speak for many of my readers is I was huge fan of Pugcast later Dregcast. Jeg and Draechen had a very no nonsense way of talking about Warcraft half shock jock half weekly news update. Its a show that many currently active podcast own much of there heritage from. In march of 2011 when Dregcast closed its doors for the second time. They let there website go inactive and people were no longer able to get there archive. I've tried sending a few notes to Jeg since that time but haven't got a response. From my understanding he has walked away from the Warcraft Podcasting Community which I respect. However Draechen has become a member of Violent Apathy Guild much as myself so I sent him a note via twitter asking him if it would be ok if I reposted the shows. As you can see he agreed and I'm happy to present the restored Dregcast/pugcast Archives.

As much as people say things on the internet don't disappear that isn't true and for me to be able to save one of best Warcraft Podcasts that has been ever put together brings me a fair bit of joy. I hope this is only the beginning of the podcasts that can be saved but I'm only going to be reposting shows I get permission to. I'll keep everyone updated

Dead Podcast for November

A friend of mine was saying the reason you don't keep seeing new people laid off is because so many have already lost their job. And while this month's list is fairly short its hard not to see that so many other warcraft podcast have podfaded this year.

First of note Azeroth Daily this was Totalbiscuits video show that started during the Cataclysm beta with lets be honest some of the best Warcraft Videoes on youtube at that time. Around the time of Patch 4.2 TB gave up the ghost in a huge public exposition against Warcraft and all the things he didn't like about. But let us be honest this is far from the first time this has happened so I have held off on moving this show to podfade till its six months were up. Next month Blue Plz will also have been inactive for 6 months as well.

Needs a Hug which is another great podcast title with podcast that didn't last overly long. However while they were active they did put out 8 episodes before disappearing into the nether.

Ogra's 15 was a guild podcast that lasted from October of 2010 til July. One of the joys I have found in keep the list of podcasts is just how many guilds choose to make a podcasts just for there guild. Some are simple others are huge well produced marvels.

A musical pause for December 8, 2011

Believe it or not I consider this best podcast opener I have ever heard

Its Gravity by Jon Black it used to be used by Joystiq podcast which they decided they wanted to turn into some kinda NPR style gaming news & history show. The new show had production values but it was boring as hell. To say nothing of the fact I think it was taking a ton more time than just three guys siting around talking. Its to bad the new Joystiq podcast killed both the Xbox 360 fancast and old Joystiq podcast. Which really leaves the Massively podcast as the only good podcast out and out by any of the Joystiq sites(Yes did did just dig the WoW Insider show if you want to know why read here).

Honestly the thing I miss most is Dave Hinkle who is an ok writer but in audio talking about games was fun as hell, sadly they only kept the boring hosts.

So I didn't really expect to write all that but that is the fun of blogs

Warcraft Podcast Archive

There are many things I love in the warcraft podcastings community. From the podcasts themselves, to there twitter, and of course talking to listeners. To that end I started a segment which has been on The Instance for about three months now where I talked about what is going on in the warcraft podcasting community. From which podcasts have stopped updating. To the birthdays and milesstones which happen each month. And we can't forget talking about new podcasts and changes that are happening in the non-english warcraft Podcasting community.

So I'm retool Thursday Video game music to a Thursday music pause. A moment to reflect and enjoy something one doesn't hear all the time. And while I know I have far from exsualted all the great video game music that has been created I feel want the music I kick to be reflective of my taste and personality. Now this is not to say I won't from time to time highlight some video game music or that this will be limited to Thursdays Its just when the mood strikes me for something I'll post it. So all that said my first musical pause is my favorite Hank Williams Jr. who's all for love.

How to do a patch trailer wrong

The official trailer to 4.3 & The Dragon Soul Raid is simplely a joke and bad one at that, if you don't believe watch it yourself.

Now look at someone taking some voice files from the Dragon Soul Raid and putting them over the trailer how much better it becomes.

And for a completely different direction that is still better than the original.

I guess what bother me about this is, over the last few years I have found the best places to show friends Warcraft and try to explain the story to show them the trailers from one patch or another to show them where we are who are the main players. If we are going back to the style of 1.10 the Weather patch maybe Warcraft is dying.

Dead Podcasts for October

As the leaves change colors and fall from the tree its time again to talk about which podcast have gone inactive or left us in the last Month.

2 and a Half Horde as small show with a good title only had 4 episodes before they stoped updating in May

For the Hoard One of the early Warcraft Video podcast stopped updating in May. However the community its apart of Lorhound goes on.

Essence of RP a show close to my heart run by a friend of friend stopped updating I know Farseer the host was moving and having money issues but I'm not sure what it is that ended the show. However this isn't there first long break, having come from WoW Radio to OMFG now to VTW I wouldn't surprise me if they come back in the future.

Rested XP is the all to common story of the podcast started after the 2010 Blizzcon only to run out of stream in the spring of 2011

Shadows of Darkness Podcast was promising Lore Podcast seems like they had a few site moved which might have spelled the end of the show, but I don't know for certain.

Storm, Earth, and Fire Podcast Another great name that didn't turn out to be long standing podcast. Storm, Earth, and Fire is still there for anyone interested in listening.

Warcraft Syndicate The oldest Podcast to stop updating this month if not post prolific. Its still to bad to see a two year old podcast go off the air without a word.

WoWphiles Was only a month younger than Warcraft Synidcat but they don't stopped updating without word. However they still managed to record 61 episodes before going dark.

Episode 25 - Coming to Pandaria

This week I'm joined by Rez of Rep Grind Radio, and we talk about all things Pandaren. starting out with Shinjo Greatpaw a short story from the Dark Factions book. After that we talk about what know about lore and story of Mists of Pandaria.

The Story so far...

Hidden since the Sundering Pandaria was found after the Shattering. Alliance and Horde find Pandaraia during a naval battle which strands both factions in the Jade forest look for allies if they wish to survive.

The History of Pandaria
The Mogu ruled Pandaria for many ages of the world as old as Trolls they ruled by a no-weapon policy which kept the Pandaran in line for a time. However the Pandran perfected an unarmed combat and were able to drive Mogu out of power but not complete out of Pandaria. The Pandaren Empire when on for thousands of years but in the time of the Sundering the last Emperor found a way to shield the Island of mist in order to save it. But this deal some how created the Sha.

Sometime after the Sundering a group of Pandaria got the idea it would be cool to live on the back of a turtle and see the world. However after leaving their home the group on the Turtle could never find there way back home. From time to time people like Chen Stormstout would leave the turtle and venture to Kalimdor and Eastern Kingdoms. Chen shared his knowledge of Brewing with Brewmaster Drohn who Brewery takes part in Brewfest every year.

Monsters:
Hozu are a Monkey race that befriend the Horde in the Jade Forest.

Jinyu are the newest type of Murkloc looking like Coy fish they befriend the Alliance in the Jade forest.

Mantid bug race that is related to the Nerubians and Qiraji. Separated from the rest of Pandaria by the Great Wall they have come out of there 1000 year hibernation a 100 years early. Making there home i the Townlong Wastes they beached the Great Wall into the Valley of the Four Winds.

Mogu the former leaders of Pandaria they still hold on to a few points of their former empire.

Sha are dark energy elemental that released with the last Emperor created the Mist Around Pandaria. They spring up where ever there is conflict and when the Alliance and the Horde wash up in the Jade forest the Sha find all the conflict they could ever want.

Verming are a rabbit people much like Kobalds they live mainly under the farmlands of the Valley of Four Winds.

Zandalar Trolls are back. After being defeated by the forces that Vol'jin called forth to stopped the Zandalar plans in Zul'Grub, and Zul'Aman. The Zandalar have now set up a base on an island on the north side of Pandaria and plan to make an impact in Ku'Lai Summit.

Pandaran Clans:
There are four aciencs that are tied to Pandaria one assusated with each Cardinal Direction. White Tiger to the West, Red Crane to the South, Jade Serpent to the East and the Black Ox to the North.

The White Tiger Clan are the most militaristic in the sence of conventional army vs army war. They make their home in the Kun-Lai Summit.

Red Crane Clan in Flamuant almost Blood Elf quality about them as shown by there love of fire. They live in the Valley of the Four Winds.

Jade Serpent Clan are the most monkish of the Pandaren making there home Jade Forest and having a major temple at the eastern most point in Pandaria.

Black Ox Clan is darkest of the clans living the Townlong Steppes.

Shado-pan Clan unlike the others doesn't associate themselves with a direction or ancient but rather they are dedicated defenders of Pandria from the Sha often doing there work in secret, they biggest settlement is the Shado-pan Monastery in Kun-Lai Summit.

Dungeons and Raids:
At the beginning of Mist of Pandaria Blizzard plans to have 6 new dungeons, 3 revamped dungeons, and 3 raids.

Great Wall divides Pandaria and keeps the Mantid at bay at least it did until they woke up 100 years before they were expected too.

Stormstout Brewery is in the Valley of the Four Winds. This is the ancestral home of of Chen Stormstout who with his niece Li Li are looking into there family history as well as why the brewery as been overrun by Verming and Hozu.

Temple of the Jade Serpent is a 1000 year old set in at the eastern most point in Pandaria. The temple has been taken over the Sha of Doubt.

Shado-pan Monastery is located high in up on Kun'Lai Summit where it servers as training ground for Shado-Pan Clan. The Sha are how threatening the Monastery Shando-pan have gone to outside sources for help.

Mogu'Shan Palace where the Mogu have been locked away since the Fall of their Empire, but something is stirring in this ancient seat of power. This will be a six boss raid located Vale of Eternal Blossoms.

Scarlet Monastery and Scholomance are both going to be brought up level 90 it is not clear if Scarlet Monastery will continue the story of Joseph the Insane or if we will be seeing a new story in the two instances. We do know that Scarlet Monastery will reorganized from four wings to two wings.

The only other instance we know about right now but don't have any details for pictures is Mantid Colony. We do however know that there was a lot Nerubian art that didn't make it into Wrath of the Lich King due to Azjol-Nerub being scaled back from a full zone to just two instances. So I'll put some of that art here.

There is also an area called Mistgard which we have no informtion about however from the image below it would seem to suggest some ties to Last Pandarian Emperor and the Mists around Pandaria. The placement of the Mountain in the background suggest this area would be located on Kun-Lai Summit.

Zones:
The Wandering Isle
Separated from Pandaria for millennia, the Wandering Isle meanders the oceans of Azeroth. When the weather changes unexpectedly on the Isle and it begins erratically spiraling toward the Maelstrom, the elders at the Temple of Five Dawns request the aid of four elemental spirits to unravel the mystery. Heroes must figure out the cause of the land's illness before the entire island plunges into the abyss!

Jade Forest
After a devastating naval battle, survivors from both the Horde and Alliance wash up onto the tree-lined shores of the Jade Forest. Surrounded by wilderness, they must form alliances with the natives if they wish to survive. Along the way, they will meet the pandaren... along with some of the greater powers that protect and shape Pandaria.

Valley of the Four Winds
A tranquil plain of lush farmland, bordered by dense mysterious jungles along the south and impassible mountains to the north. The valley is considered the "breadbasket" of Pandaria, but the year’s harvest is in jeopardy and a terrible malaise has overcome the pandaren that live along the coast. The valley is also the home of the legendary Stormstout Brewery, where Chen Stormstout and his niece Li Li hope to journey to discover the whereabouts of their long-lost ancestors.

Kun-Lai Summit
High atop the frigid northern peaks of the Kun-Lai Summit looms the Temple of the Tiger, an ancient training ground protected by an elite force of martial priests, along with the spirit of the White Tiger itself. Deeper into the mountains is the hideout of the Shado-pan: a mysterious order charged with protecting Pandaria from the dark things buried beneath its surface. When the isolated people of Kun-Lai are threatened by marauders from the west and a Zandalari troll menace invading its northern shores, they turn to the Alliance and Horde for help.

Townlong Steepes
Separated from the rest of Pandaria by the Great Wall, the rampaging mantid people of the Townlong Wastes devour everything in their path in order to build their own crystalline empire of ruthless warriors and scheming feudal lords. The pandaren are left reeling when the mantid's thousand-year cycle of aggression kicks off a hundred years too early and their greatest warriors burst through the great wall. The beleaguered pandaren must now face the worst swarm in recorded history while trying to isolate the cause of the mantid's erratic behavior.

Vale of Eternal Blossoms
The ancient seat of the pandaren empire has been hidden for generations, shrouded in mists and walled-off by impassible mountains. The waters of the Vale are believed to have mystical powers... which has attracted the attention of ancient enemies as well as power-hungry factions within the Alliance and Horde. What secrets lie buried below this mystical font of power?

Most weeks I do a segment for Rep Grind Radio taking about varies subjects in Warcraft. With the birth of my first daughter my time was more limited this week, and in the forseeable future. So while I was sitting with my new born last night not sleeping I had the idea its time for a best of show. And since I know there isn't 1 to 1 cross over with my listeners and the Rep Grind Radio crew to say nothing of the fact I didn't get my segment into Res before they recorded last week like I said I would this seems to make kara happiest.

Everything is new again

There are many things we all know Blizzard favors the Horde, your keys are always in the last place you look, and all babies are cute.

The last of these I always wondered if I could be objective with my own kids but I'm not and that is because my kid Babyomara for those from twitter is so darn cute. I like to keep my personal life out of my wow life for the most part but there are times your just so proud of your life and happy have a new member of the family your incline to share. That and I know noelove wants to see some pictures.

For those wondering about Grand Old Podcast Next week I should be back like normal and I hope to have a Best of the Warcraft Archive up sometime before the end of the weekend.

What I'm Listening to: October

Emperor's Court, is an Old WoWradio show that has found a new new home. I like its a lot of ranting but the world need more ranting.

Bind on Equip, I've been on and off with this podcast over the last year but I think in the last three months they have really gotten there grove back. And I seen they are changing around the feed. So now Rocks the Horde, and Cable wasteland are just part of normall BoE feed which is a great change if you ask me.

The Middlefinger Podcast, Bill, Joe and Will are some of the most passionate people about Warcraft Podcasting I know of. Give them a listen its a great show.

The last thing I would like to mention is if you enjoy Podcasts you should submit your nominations for the Stopies.

Dead Podcast for September

September seen many podcasts hit there six month inactive mark most were fairly short lived Catababy podcasts but others were lost Standing members of the World of Warcraft Podcasting community. As always if you wish to view the full master list of Warcraft Podcast it can be found on the Wowpedia Podcasting Page.

*To start of Addicted to Azeroth announce via Twitter The show had been inconsistent in its updates and it seems the creators wanted to move on to other projects.

*Audio Aggro one of our Catababies, had three episodes all in March of 2011, no reason given for why they stopped updating.

*Guild Chat Podcast started in October of 2010 had a solid 15 episodes under their belt then they stopped updating in March of 2011, no reason given for why they stopped updating.

*Havoccast started and ended in March of 2011 the focus of the show was PvP, and story telling. While no reason is give why the show never got off the ground, this is but another example of a WoW podcast that just never got very far.

*Not Enough Rage just like the Guild Chat Podcast this podcast started in October during the highs of Blizzcon 2010, and coming anticipation of Cataclysm Expansion. Ended in March of 2011 no reason given for why they stopped podcasting.

*The Core Podcast a Guild podcast that put out 7 episodes ended in March of 2011, The guild still seems to active seems they just stopped putting out there podcast.

*The WoW Druidcast started in June of 2009 came to a end in March. Its a strange thing that more class podcasts haven't popped up over the years. No reason was given for the end of the show.

**See Update below**Understanding Warcraft Podcast is put out by No worries gaming, while I can't find a clear post on the end of Understanding Warcraft Podcast, but No worries gaming also had a second Warcraft Podcast called the Casual Warcrafting Podcast.

*Weekly Random started in November of 2010 and ended in March of 2011. Seems the creators of the Podcast just were not happy with the show, and decided to pull back until they could make things better. I guess that day has let to come, but I'll keep you updated if it does.

*World-News TV was a short lived French Warcarft Podcast that was another of our Cataclysm upstarts. Sadly the show ended in January of 2011 never really finding its feet.

*World of Warcraft With Jojo And Palopit came and went from us in March of 2011. Its interesting how sometimes two friends talking can go on for years and other times only months.

*Wow in 30, another Warcraft quick cast getting away from the long shows that dominate the Warcraft Podcasting community. Sadly the show came and went in March of 2011.

*Yet Another World of Warcraft Podcast, funny how the words are more true now than when the show started in 2007. With 93 shows under there belt they stopped updating in April. I have yet to find out why the show ended but I'm sad to see such a long standing podcast go. But I'm glad they were here for a while.

And so we come to the end of the Sunwell Trilogy for now... honestly this is one of the cornerstones of the current published warcraft lore, and I hope everyone enjoyed our four episode jounry with Hastuer, Fimlys, and Deathstance. Three very different points of view, reading the story at different times and in different media.

Since Deathstance and I spend almost an hour and a half talking about Ghostlands and related issues I have put the main Sunwell stuff before the require outtro and if you want more after that just keep listening.

I'm hard pressed to figured out what people don't like about the game. Sure the water can be a challenge but that is half the fun of it.

Sadly it looks like the french podcast World-News TV has gone inactive.

Now I didn't play Zelda 2 when it came out in fact I didn't play til I got to college almost 15 years later but if your a lover of 8-bit music like myself hard not enjoy this music.

*Call to Auction is a gold making podcast. While never really having issue with money in Warcraft of the current batch of Warcraft gold podcast this is my favorite.

*The Warstomping Grounds podcast is short show kinda like the Mana Cooler. You got to love a guy that love tauren right...

*5 WoW Things, I know BGO has been going through some hard times of late but I can't say enough how much I enjoy this show.

Non-spoiler Wolfheart Review

One of the main focuses of Warcraft novels since they were first published in 2001 has been the Night Elves. Starting with the War of the Ancients Trilogy, the Night Elves were revisited in Stormrage and now are ready for a new adventure, Wolfheart.

Wolfheart is set around six months after the Shattering. The Horde are planning a new attack offensive in Ashenvale. Meanwhile, Tyrande Whisperwind and her husband Malfurion Stormrage are trying to formally bring the Worgen of Gilneas into the Alliance through a summit of its leaders. But since nothing ever goes according to plan, someone has started killing Night Elf Highborne while the summit is going on.

Wolfheart draws on what makes fantasy writing so enjoyable. I personally enjoyed the politics and political maneuvering of nations that don’t exist and a murder mystery in world filled with magic. The dynamics of the epic battle are of a magnitude that would make Norse mythology proud; it’s all weaved into Wolfheart.

My personal highlight of the book was the secondary characters, Jarod and Maiev Shadowsong, coming together again as long estranged brother and sister. But there are many others. The unfortunate truth to a book like this is that the main characters (faction leaders) tend to be largely unmoving; you know none of them are going to die because that doesn’t serve the game. So the real drama comes from the secondary characters and in that regard they are fantastic.

The biggest drawback to the book was the pacing; the middle of this book feels like the characters are doing the same things over and over again. What’s that another murder, another attack? While these serve the plot and do build to its conclusion, at the same time it is hard not to feel like the plot is spinning its wheels. It just feels like a major hook or revelation is missing.

All in all, this is a good book. There is no big deus ex machina at the end; the ending feels earned and well set up. All the voices are true to what we have come to expect from Warcraft novels and games. It should be noted that while this is a VERY Alliance heavy book, the Horde is treated with respect and never written as dumb or somehow less than the Alliance. With that said, if you’re coming to this review as a non-Warcraft III or World of Warcraft player, I think it’s hard to recommend this book to you.

This is Richard A. Knaak’s best Warcraft novel since Day of the Dragon, and I would encourage all people to check Wolfheart out if they are able.

Why do Blood elves and Night evles have differnt mounts?

I was asked the question why do Blood elves and Night elves have different mounts by Bryterside on twitter. Honestly it is not a question I had given much thought too. But it is interesting so here is my best answer though I don’t claim any of its canon.

10,000 Years again was the War of the Ancients where the Highborne elves lead by Queen Azshara tried to use the Well of Eternity to bring Sargeras into Azeroth. While at this point all elves were basically the same, Highborne were your upper class/ruling class while those that we think of as Night Elves were mostly soldiers and commoners. There was some cross over but not much.

Seeing that Azshara was crazy Dath'Remar Sunstrider helped Tyrande Whisperwind escape Azshara dungeon thus earning the Highborne a pardon for saving Malfurion Stormrage’s future wife.

After the war some Highborne became druids while others secretly still practiced arcane magic. After almost blowing up Ashenvale Forest, Malfurion said. Listen kids if you want to blow yourselves up your not doing it here, and he exiled them.

So you’re asking me what the fuck does this have to do with Kitties and chocobos? If you go back to the War of the Ancients all the Nigh elves including Highborne are riding Night Sabers . The same mount used the Night elves today. So why Highborne /High Elves keep using cats, as mounts after there they got to Eastern Kingdom?

The simplest explanation might have been they had planed to but the Night Sabers were all lost in there crash landing in Tirisfal Glades. The site at least one of there boats crashed at can still be seen. The crash taken with the fact they were force out of there first settlement by some madness, no doubt left the High Elves short on resources.

That still doesn’t answer the question why no cats? With druids and skilled hunters in there ranks you would think that the High Elves could have been able to tame the local lynxes to server as mounts. My thought on this is that if you look at the trolls in the area you see they have catlords. The High Elves might have wanted to distances themselves from cats as mounts seeing them now tied to there cousins the Night Elves as well as there enemies the Trolls.

So where do you get a Hawkstrider? A Hawkstrider is part of the tallstrider family, but tallstriders aren’t native to Eastern Kingdoms. So once again go back to the exile of the Highborne. Logically if there are no Hawkstiders other than the ones the Blood Elves have it’s a good bet this might be a rare breed of tallstrider taken by the High Elves from Kalimdor to Eastern Kingdoms as part of there exile.

There are of course other possible reasons but lets go along this line of logic for a while. If you go to the Hunting trainer in Silvermoon you will see a large stuffed tallstrider. Where did it come from?
The best bet is the tallstriders which came with the High Elves to the Eastern Kingdoms were breed for color and shape much the same way dogs are. This gave the High elves a mount wholly different from that used by either there cousins or there enemies.

So, there you go Blood elves are still basically holding a grudge against all the kids that wronged them in high school, and thus will only drive Honda’s err ride Hawkstiders.

*World of WoW put out by the Dead workers Party Network seems to have gone inactive. And while it might have the least creative name of any Warcraft podcast ever. It was a good show and even did a few good interviews I would point you do interview they did with Breanni of Warcraft Pets.

*Total Cataclysm one of the many new podcast started up in the wake of Cataclysm. Bosting some of the same host as Postcards from the Old World, the show never really got off the ground.

*Call to Auction The oldest Warcraft Gold making podcast. Seems to have podfaded. With no clear work what is going on. Duffus on twitter tells me he mentioned something about in episode 7 of The Double O Podcasts but I haven't gotten back to re-listen to it to make sure.

*The Troll Feed is your classic to guys talking about Warcraft and gaming Podcast. Born in the wake of Cataclysm the show podfades like so many others.

The Undead and the trolls

Undeath is a subject that most peoples in Azeroth would rather not deal with. Be they human or goblin and most races in between. Yet one race in embraces the undeath and has for 100’s of years and that is Trolls.

If you quest in The Hinterlands you will notice something interesting happening the Forsaken and the forest troll tribe of Revantusk tribe have started working together to fight common enemies the Wild Hammer Dwarfs, Vilebranch tribe and Witherbark tribe. Together they handle threats in this area alone that neither side could handle.

But Why? If your looking look to Eliza DarkGrin. “The trolls are quite accepting of my kind. After all, they spoke to the dead for centuries before the Forsake even existed.” Looking at writing dating back to the Gurubashi Empire talk about connections to spirits.

The first recorded human undead was created during the Troll wars . Meryl Winterstorm now know as Meryl Felstorm was one of the early human mages that helped the High elves and Humans defeat the Amani Empire. At a key point in the battle Meryl was mortally wouded rather than die he used this mage to put himself in a state of undeath.

In more resent times groups of trolls have been willing to throw there lot in with Scourge. The betrayal of Drakuru of this fellow Ice troll’s to the Lich King is strong example of just how willing trolls can be to work with the undead. Most resent lore accounts say the actions of Drakuru taken with the events around the deaths of Ice troll Loa have left all but a hand full Drakkari alive.

Even the Darkspear talk to the dead, Nimboya Bubbling Cauldron has seen skulls of many races in it . These heads are often as demanding in death as they were in life. Yet we see here one more example undeath used by a living troll as not much a desperate means to get information but rather just another part of there culture.

Cataclysm is filled with trolls coming back to life. From the work of Zanzil who is asked to bring High Priestess Jeklik and High Priest Venoxis back to life. To Bloodlord Mandokir who not only comes back to life but also brings his favorite raptor back too, Ohgan. But my favorite dead defying troll is Tony Two-Tusk. When you kill Tony in Thousand Needles his spirit decides to haunt you until you go to his ex-wife to have him resurrected. Ajamon Ghostcaller has moved has moved onto other spirits but she agrees to help Tony.

Its amazing that you and find stories inside the Warcraft canon about almost every group of trolls dealing with the undead in one way or another. Yet it’s my hope that we see continued tightening of bonds between the Forsaken, and other horde trolls. I mean deaths just another beginning.

Transmogrification Reactions

We are all creatures of the now what we have done in the past or will do in the future matters little because at a glace we can’t see the dept of the a person.

We are all shallow, and make snap judgments and World of Warcraft in no exception but now at least to some degree each of us will be given a limited ability or alter our gear of the most repent raiding patch with that of bygone times. I think that is a good thing. Are 90% of Paladins going to be running around in Tier 2? Most likely but what is wrong with that.

This change lets the both best and no doubt the worst of blizzard item art come to life. Sure there are going to be limits on grey items but you only need to quest through Outlands to get the horrible looking recolored Dungeon set. Maybe you want to mix your Northred viking gear with your Firelands gear all of this is now within your reach. I like to give my characters a nice fedora. Now I can do that no matter if it set piece or not.

Way back in the day blizzard used to say they wouldn’t add a feture unless they could make it there own. In my mind Transmogrification is cool because its new to World of Warcraft but compaired to Lotro or DCO this system is a shallow comparison. Sometimes its ok to give Malabo Stayie a new hat and that’s all it takes to make people interested but over the longer term I expect this will be something people come to hate more than love.

If Blizzard has giving up on many things there own can we get guild housing/personal housing? I don’t need a personal zeppelin or my own plot of land a simple instance area I or my Guild can call there own would be great. Hang my hat on the wall see my 100’s of non-combat pets messing up the place and big chair to call my own.

Or maybe its time to finally allow people to betray there faction because the limited visual cues you have about another players gear is gone really that red text is all you need if it’s a friendly Orc or an enemy Orc shouldn’t matter. I came up with a great system years ago to do this.

Make it happen Blizz you know people will love it at least as much as Panda’s.

Art or signs of things to come in 4.3

Word is coming down from on high that the Deathwing raid will be coming out with 4.3.

A few days ago I was going through some of images, while cleaning and refiling and I came to he image above of Garrosh and Varian fighting Deathwing. What I find interesting about this this is Deathwing humanoid form. A model which is only used once in game for the Day Deathwing Came quest in the Badlands. You would expect this model to get more play but it doesn't. Sure the Deathwing Raid and patch might give us some more Deathwing showing up and being evil.

But its fun to think about a fight where both Garrosh and Varian are fighting Deathwing with heroes by there side. That would be something to see. Right now we don't even know where Deathwings Raid would be or what other bosses would be in it. But if this picture is any clue its most like on the surface on Azeroth and in a mountain range. We shall see.

A nice sand and stain.

We all have hobbies outside of Warcraft figured I would share one of my resent projects.

I have a baby coming in November and it needed a dresser/changing table. So when walking through a local used furniture store a few weeks back I came across this guy. What follows are some before and after pictures. Honestly I'm really happy with the way this 60 year old dresser turned around.

Lorestories is basically a question answer lore show.

The Ancient of Lore an Old WoW Radio Show focusing on many of the lore issues back in 2005.

The Lorekeepers another old WoW Radio show went a bit deeper into WoW Lore.

The Overlores play through zones and talk about lore of those zone.

Update: Illidarian recently put her lore segments up on Archive.org Thus one more source for lore.
