Episode 25 - Coming to Pandaria
This week I'm joined by Rez of Rep Grind Radio, and we talk about all things Pandaren. starting out with Shinjo Greatpaw a short story from the Dark Factions book. After that we talk about what know about lore and story of Mists of Pandaria.
The Story so far...
Hidden since the Sundering Pandaria was found after the Shattering. Alliance and Horde find Pandaraia during a naval battle which strands both factions in the Jade forest look for allies if they wish to survive.
The History of Pandaria
The Mogu ruled Pandaria for many ages of the world as old as Trolls they ruled by a no-weapon policy which kept the Pandaran in line for a time. However the Pandran perfected an unarmed combat and were able to drive Mogu out of power but not complete out of Pandaria. The Pandaren Empire when on for thousands of years but in the time of the Sundering the last Emperor found a way to shield the Island of mist in order to save it. But this deal some how created the Sha.
Sometime after the Sundering a group of Pandaria got the idea it would be cool to live on the back of a turtle and see the world. However after leaving their home the group on the Turtle could never find there way back home. From time to time people like Chen Stormstout would leave the turtle and venture to Kalimdor and Eastern Kingdoms. Chen shared his knowledge of Brewing with Brewmaster Drohn who Brewery takes part in Brewfest every year.
Hozu are a Monkey race that befriend the Horde in the Jade Forest.
Jinyu are the newest type of Murkloc looking like Coy fish they befriend the Alliance in the Jade forest.
Mantid bug race that is related to the Nerubians and Qiraji. Separated from the rest of Pandaria by the Great Wall they have come out of there 1000 year hibernation a 100 years early. Making there home i the Townlong Wastes they beached the Great Wall into the Valley of the Four Winds.
Mogu the former leaders of Pandaria they still hold on to a few points of their former empire.
Sha are dark energy elemental that released with the last Emperor created the Mist Around Pandaria. They spring up where ever there is conflict and when the Alliance and the Horde wash up in the Jade forest the Sha find all the conflict they could ever want.
Verming are a rabbit people much like Kobalds they live mainly under the farmlands of the Valley of Four Winds.
Zandalar Trolls are back. After being defeated by the forces that Vol'jin called forth to stopped the Zandalar plans in Zul'Grub, and Zul'Aman. The Zandalar have now set up a base on an island on the north side of Pandaria and plan to make an impact in Ku'Lai Summit.
There are four aciencs that are tied to Pandaria one assusated with each Cardinal Direction. White Tiger to the West, Red Crane to the South, Jade Serpent to the East and the Black Ox to the North.
The White Tiger Clan are the most militaristic in the sence of conventional army vs army war. They make their home in the Kun-Lai Summit.
Red Crane Clan in Flamuant almost Blood Elf quality about them as shown by there love of fire. They live in the Valley of the Four Winds.
Jade Serpent Clan are the most monkish of the Pandaren making there home Jade Forest and having a major temple at the eastern most point in Pandaria.
Black Ox Clan is darkest of the clans living the Townlong Steppes.
Shado-pan Clan unlike the others doesn't associate themselves with a direction or ancient but rather they are dedicated defenders of Pandria from the Sha often doing there work in secret, they biggest settlement is the Shado-pan Monastery in Kun-Lai Summit.
Dungeons and Raids:
At the beginning of Mist of Pandaria Blizzard plans to have 6 new dungeons, 3 revamped dungeons, and 3 raids.
Great Wall divides Pandaria and keeps the Mantid at bay at least it did until they woke up 100 years before they were expected too.
Stormstout Brewery is in the Valley of the Four Winds. This is the ancestral home of of Chen Stormstout who with his niece Li Li are looking into there family history as well as why the brewery as been overrun by Verming and Hozu.
Temple of the Jade Serpent is a 1000 year old set in at the eastern most point in Pandaria. The temple has been taken over the Sha of Doubt.
Shado-pan Monastery is located high in up on Kun'Lai Summit where it servers as training ground for Shado-Pan Clan. The Sha are how threatening the Monastery Shando-pan have gone to outside sources for help.
Mogu'Shan Palace where the Mogu have been locked away since the Fall of their Empire, but something is stirring in this ancient seat of power. This will be a six boss raid located Vale of Eternal Blossoms.
Scarlet Monastery and Scholomance are both going to be brought up level 90 it is not clear if Scarlet Monastery will continue the story of Joseph the Insane or if we will be seeing a new story in the two instances. We do know that Scarlet Monastery will reorganized from four wings to two wings.
The only other instance we know about right now but don't have any details for pictures is Mantid Colony. We do however know that there was a lot Nerubian art that didn't make it into Wrath of the Lich King due to Azjol-Nerub being scaled back from a full zone to just two instances. So I'll put some of that art here.
There is also an area called Mistgard which we have no informtion about however from the image below it would seem to suggest some ties to Last Pandarian Emperor and the Mists around Pandaria. The placement of the Mountain in the background suggest this area would be located on Kun-Lai Summit.
The Wandering Isle
Separated from Pandaria for millennia, the Wandering Isle meanders the oceans of Azeroth. When the weather changes unexpectedly on the Isle and it begins erratically spiraling toward the Maelstrom, the elders at the Temple of Five Dawns request the aid of four elemental spirits to unravel the mystery. Heroes must figure out the cause of the land's illness before the entire island plunges into the abyss!
After a devastating naval battle, survivors from both the Horde and Alliance wash up onto the tree-lined shores of the Jade Forest. Surrounded by wilderness, they must form alliances with the natives if they wish to survive. Along the way, they will meet the pandaren... along with some of the greater powers that protect and shape Pandaria.
Valley of the Four Winds
A tranquil plain of lush farmland, bordered by dense mysterious jungles along the south and impassible mountains to the north. The valley is considered the "breadbasket" of Pandaria, but the year’s harvest is in jeopardy and a terrible malaise has overcome the pandaren that live along the coast. The valley is also the home of the legendary Stormstout Brewery, where Chen Stormstout and his niece Li Li hope to journey to discover the whereabouts of their long-lost ancestors.
High atop the frigid northern peaks of the Kun-Lai Summit looms the Temple of the Tiger, an ancient training ground protected by an elite force of martial priests, along with the spirit of the White Tiger itself. Deeper into the mountains is the hideout of the Shado-pan: a mysterious order charged with protecting Pandaria from the dark things buried beneath its surface. When the isolated people of Kun-Lai are threatened by marauders from the west and a Zandalari troll menace invading its northern shores, they turn to the Alliance and Horde for help.
Separated from the rest of Pandaria by the Great Wall, the rampaging mantid people of the Townlong Wastes devour everything in their path in order to build their own crystalline empire of ruthless warriors and scheming feudal lords. The pandaren are left reeling when the mantid's thousand-year cycle of aggression kicks off a hundred years too early and their greatest warriors burst through the great wall. The beleaguered pandaren must now face the worst swarm in recorded history while trying to isolate the cause of the mantid's erratic behavior.
Vale of Eternal Blossoms
The ancient seat of the pandaren empire has been hidden for generations, shrouded in mists and walled-off by impassible mountains. The waters of the Vale are believed to have mystical powers... which has attracted the attention of ancient enemies as well as power-hungry factions within the Alliance and Horde. What secrets lie buried below this mystical font of power?
